After long days of too much activity for an old lady, I decided to relax and watch a TV show. Thinking I had picked a great one, I was all set in my comfy chair with a cold glass of tea. As the show opened, I knew immediately this was not going to be a relaxing evening.
The plot focused on a key political topic and in no uncertain terms, you knew which side this show was on. You would think I’d switch it off and find something else, but not me. I decided to stay glued to my seat and see how far this rabbit trail would take me.
The show did represent both sides of the issue (finally), though it was not fair and balanced reporting. I had to remind myself these aren’t journalists, but scriptwriters and could push any political agenda they chose to push. And push they did!
I also was reminded I have to be careful what I watch and who I listen to. This “entertainment” can be cunning and baffling.
There are many issues we humans have strong feelings about. I, for one, am grateful to live in a country that allows such freedoms. I am even more grateful to have a Lord who lovingly and graciously wraps his arms around me to show me Truth.
And for your information, I’m not watching THAT show again!
“You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free!” (John 8:32)
