Marching band in red uniforms playing brass instruments in a paradeI was caught up with the inaugural events yesterday, but when the parade started, my heart started beating faster as my feet tapped to the cadence of drums, fifes and bugles.  Whether it was 76 trombones or two, I love a parade!

Since I was knee high to a grasshopper, I’ve marched in parades with dance ensembles, drill teams, bands, and majorette.  Freezing temperatures has nearly frostbitten my hands, feet, legs and face while I prayed for warmer uniforms and thicker leggings.  My lips got stuck to my flute once. I’ve twirled a baton when my fingers were so numb I wasn’t sure whether I was actually holding the baton or not!

But the best untold secret in any parade is in which order you fall in the parade route.  Every member of the parade secretly prays they will march BEFORE the horses instead of BEHIND them.  I’ve had my share of both.

Yes, yesterday’s parade reminded me of American spirit, national pride, and love for those marching bands.  I love parades, but I especially love this country.  I’m committed to praying for our new president and those in authority.  Will you join me?

1 Timothy 2:1-2          “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—  for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
