Recently I was asked to post my testimony on a national pro-life organization’s Facebook page. The testimony posted early on Good Friday and within a few hours had more than 3,500 people “like” the post with over 300 posted comments. While the majority responding were supportive and very encouraging, there were a few less encouraging comments.
One woman said I would lie in torment in hell. Another said he respected my honesty, but he still holds to the belief that a woman should have a choice what happens to her body and refuses to believe life begins at conception. While I didn’t read all of the comments, I’m sure there are more naysayers out there.
I’m often asked, “what will people say when you share something so personal in your testimony?” Well, nothing will dissuade me from sharing my testimony. In being transparent and giving God the glory and the results, the truth can be revealed about what I and many others consider to be the single greatest social injustice in our lifetime —abortion. But the transformation of what God has done in many, many lives – that’s where the hope and victory is found.
Abortion is about a child, a mother and a father. The child loses his or her life, but the parents are left with a decision that all too often harms them emotionally, physically, and mentally. Abortion does not discriminate whom it destroys … but, fortunately, neither does the recovery found in God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness.
Stay tuned. In a few weeks you will hear of a new effort that will be launched. Until then, I’m sure there will be many more naysayers. Lord, let me be your voice in a dark world.
