Siri voice assistant screen asking What can I help you with?It was a work marathon at the farm this weekend.  The men arrived with work boots and gloves in hand to build a new fence.  The women arrived with comfy clothes and blankets to supervise.  Every detail was planned for a successful weekend!

A good night’s sleep and warm food started everything off on the right foot bright and early on Saturday.  I just love men who know how to cook and allow women to do what we do so well – supervise! We braved the cold temps in our heavy coats all of 10 minutes before we realized we could supervise from inside the house and use our binoculars.  Our guys knew exactly what they were doing … we were so proud of them … oh what a crew!

When we heard the railroad was shutting down our road (a dead-end road, to boot) to work on the tracks for several hours, we (the women supervisors) thought —  no problem, we needed to check out local shopping in the next town.  We told our guys we’d be back when the road opened at 6.

You know that women are always (well, usually) punctual, and we were back at 5:55 p.m., only to find not only our road, but every road that could get us back home closed for several more hours.  Three women in a little car in unfamiliar territory, we resorted to what every red-blooded American would do … we asked Siri.

I must have a version of Siri that doesn’t understand Texan.  When I asked for an alternate route to our location, Siri mapped out a route through Alabama, then mapped out a route through South Carolina.  Then Siri had the audacity to tell me she couldn’t understand and would I repeat myself.  Grrrrrrr!  It was dark, we were lost, on dark country roads, and, worst of all, we were HUNGRY!

Fortunately, our guys, finished for the day, wondering where we were, called us.  We made a plan and rendezvoused with great friends, food and fellowship.

Oh, by the way, Siri wasn’t invited!
