It struck me this week as family was together, comforting one another as our beloved patriarch prepared to pass to his Heavenly home, what’s truly important in life. While receiving this jolt of reality, I remembered a popular song I used to sing in 1972:
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been praying’ for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
Look all around, there’s nothing’ but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothing’ but blue skies
I so often get caught up in the gloominess, dark days of living, that I forget what should be first and foremost. We’re all just passing through this world and it’s definitely not our final resting place. As a Christian, I know that one day I will see this sweet man and the rest of my family, and there will be “no more night, no more pain, no more tears, never crying again.”
There’s plenty of room for everyone in Heaven. Won’t you come join us?
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 1 Corinthians 13:12
