The world is still reeling from the acts of terror perpetrated on hundreds of innocent victims in Paris this past Friday. Six attacks, coordinated within minutes of each other, left a city and nation in shock and the world in mourning. One moment people were enjoying being alive — the next chaos and death.
I was busy at work on Friday, not hearing of the attacks until late in the evening. Once I heard “we bring you this late breaking news of attacks occurring hours earlier in Paris,” I knew it was more acts of terror. My mind returned to our country’s encounter with terror on September 11., 2001. I was horrified at the evil men could harbor in their hearts then, and growing increasingly alarmed at the rate these acts are being carried out today.
This I know – there are husbands, wives, children, parents, families that have lost people they love. There are countless lives that have been changed in a split second by senseless acts because someone or some group wants control. Today, hug your families, tell someone you love them. You never know when this moment may be your last.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
