There is nothing that makes me hotter than a wet hen quicker than politics. I am equally mad at Republicans and Democrats. Give me awhile and I’ll be mad at Independents, too.
The definition of “Politics” means “of, for, or relating to citizens.” I don’t believe it. I like what Senator Ted Cruz said: “Politics? Well, ‘poli’ means ‘much or many,’ and ‘tics’ means a ‘blood sucking parasite.'” So there you go. Politics = A Big Mess. I’m not being negative, just realistic.
My blood really starts boiling when I’m around those that talk a lot, yet take no action … constantly complaining, but taking no steps toward positive change. There were 30 million Americans who didn’t vote in the last presidential election. Why? Good question. In other countries around the world people risk their lives just to cast their vote.
America, wake up! We need to get past the point of sitting back, letting someone else decide our fate, being apathetic to who represents us. We can no longer just show up to vote every four years. We have to get involved at the onset.
To affect real change in our culture, let’s stop talking, get off the sidelines, get involved in the process at the local level, do our homework about who’s running for office, vote the issues not party politics, and hold those we elect to office accountable. I’ve voted for the alternative too much and regretted it every time.
Yes, I’m on my soap box, but I’m preaching to me as well as the rest of the choir.
