It happens all the time, especially at holidays. You’re with family or friends, and someone invariably tells about the time you served bloody chicken, or blueberry drip, or dropped the dessert (believe me, my family has lots of stories centered on my cooking). Once my mistakes are dredged up, I immediately get defensive and my hackles go up. You just can’t get a break with people — someone is always telling on you!
I suppose it’s human nature to bring up the good, the bad and the ugly … as long as it’s someone else’s good, bad and ugly. We do have a choice of what to talk about, but noooooooo. This world seems to get a kick out of making snide and sarcastic remarks at someone else’s expense, all pointing fingers away from the one speaking.
It’s nice to know God’s not like that. He never keeps a record of wrongs (and I have plenty of them) … He throws all of the “junk” I turn over to His care into His sea of eternal forgetfulness. Wouldn’t it be ideal if people were more like God and less worldly? That’s what Heaven will be like, and I can hardly wait!
