For the past five months we (me, kids and grandkids) have been planning a surprise party for “Papa” Efurd. In our family, it’s hard to keep a secret, but yesterday’s surprise worked. Traveling interstate, intrastate and within the metroplex, the Surprisors showed up on time and on cue. The hardest part is getting the Surprisee to show up without finding out what’s going on.
Thanks to trusted friends, “Papa” showed up on cue and was really surprised. Everyone had a great time and I enjoyed seeing our family together. The party was a success. I can now add another “surprise notch” on my belt of memorabilia.
As I was sitting in church today, I remembered some other surprises I had this week. Out of the blue, several unsolicited ministry inquiries turned up. They blew me away. Here I was thinking “I’ve done all I can do, I’m ready to throw in the towel,” whine, whine, whine. Then God tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Remember me? Don’t think you’re doing any of this!”
Right now I kind of like the view from the passenger seat.
