Words of Wisdom

I like good quotes … short, sweet, succinct, simple, straight-forward.  Each week in church I look for one or two good quotes from the pastor, because I have just enough memory left to remember short and sweet.  This week I want to share some of my favorite quotes from my favorite pastors, authors and evangelists (though my list is definitely not limited to these alone), and are listed in no particular order.

Kay Arthur:  “Sin will take you farther than you ever expected to go; it will keep you longer than you ever intended to stay, and it will cost you more than you ever expected to pay.”

Francis Chan:  “If everyone was like you, what would the church be like?”

Chuck Colson:  “Loving God – really loving Him – means living out His commands no matter what the cost.”

Nancy Leigh DeMoss:  “Don’t wait for God to break you. You can choose to be broken or you can wait for God to crush your pride.”

Tony Evans:  “Peace doesn’t mean that you will not have problems. Peace means that your problems will not have you.”

Alex Kendrick:  “Your attitude is like the aroma of your heart. If your attitude stinks, it means your heart’s not right.”

Greg Laurie:  “Don’t look at God in the light of your problem. Look at your problem in the light of God. God is bigger!”

Anne Graham Lotz:  “It’s sobering to contemplate how much time, effort, sacrifice, compromise, and attention we give to acquiring and increasing our supply of something that is totally insignificant in eternity.”

Pretty impressive!  Now here’s your homework assignment.  Search and learn about each person on this list you’re unfamiliar with … learn their story/struggles/strengths.  Let me hear from you!
