I’ve seen a lot of mountains this year – Alaska, California, Colorado, New Mexico.  Breathtakingly beautiful all.  Whenever I experience a change from the East Texas piney woods and Texas heat, God’s creation is there to remind me what an outstanding artist He is.  I’m always in awe of His beauty.

Now I don’t actually climb mountains; I’m grateful to be able to breath and move in higher altitudes. And I also never look down, because heights don’t settle well with me. However, I am forever intrigued by those who face challenges and make a plan to go a little higher … press on a little farther.

The famous Rodgers & Hammerstein song from “Sound of Music” says:

Climb every mountain
Search high and low
Follow every byway
Every path you know

Climb every mountain
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow
‘Till you find your dream

Well, I may not climb every mountain, but I do know something about fording streams and searching high and low and following different paths, and I can truthfully say I am now at a stage in life that I can pretty well handle the challenges that lie ahead.  You see, I know the One who helps me overcome and illuminates any dark path I may wander down.

What about you?

Isaiah 40:4      “Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.”
