I have a friend who is charming and disarming. Marilyn never met a stranger. I can always count on her giving an honest answer spiced with humor. She had me pegged within ten minutes … “You’re a powerful choleric!” Boy, am I ever. While a lot of people are trying to figure out what they have to do today, I have an entire month’s calendar in my head. But, just as Marilyn tells me, I have to balance being a choleric as a strength and a weakness. In my weakness I drive people nuts constantly checking on things. But in my strength, I allow others to take responsibility to accomplish more than ever. Last week, I took a backseat to planning and really enjoyed the outcome.
Marilyn had a radio interview scheduled. I thought to myself, “I’ve done that; it will be fun for Marilyn.” So I offered to be her “navigator” to get her to the appointed place at the appointed time. (Marilyn likes to remind me that I am, after all, her “EA.”) We headed out in her little red convertible (top up to protect the hair). When we arrived at the radio station, I was pleasantly surprised to be allowed to “sit in” on the show.
Two hours is a long time to talk, but I had a blast. Marilyn had a blast. The two anchors had a blast. At the start of the show we were headed in one direction, but in two hours ended in an entirely different direction. Much to my surprise, I was invited to be on the show later in October. Now here’s what was so amazing … I thought to myself as the anchors were looking at their calendar, “Lord, I only have one day I could be on the show in October,” and I thought of that date. Not a minute later, the co-anchor said, “We only have one day open in October, and it’s this date (the same date I had prayed about).”
It’s amazing what happens when I get out of God’s way!
2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
