We’ve been in a flurry of activity at the farm preparing for winter, for Christmas parties, and for a huge family Christmas. I’ve had my daily to-do’s written down on my phone and checking each job off the list as they’re completed (and don’t worry, haven’t forgotten hubby’s LONG to-do list). Last week was our first official Christmas party and it was a hum-dinger!
We joined a new church when we moved to town and opened our home to host the Sunday School party. We’ve been decorating and fixing up, but since we’ve had unseasonably warm weather, the ladybugs have been swarming (meaning they get in the house, get trapped and try to exit by the closest window). After an extermination, cleaning and carpet cleaning, we were almost ready for the party.
They started arriving exactly on time, lines of cars with headlights on, headed down the road to our house. It reminded me of Field of Dreams! But nothing prepared me for over 40 people at the house, with more than a dozen or so that couldn’t make it. We all had a great time. As hubby and I were crawling (literally) into bed after the party, we both agreed we are not as young as we once were and certainly feel every single sore inch of it. I guess we need to pace ourselves better. Thankfully, the party has helped us prepare for family Christmas.
Yes, we’re getting ready for Christmas in a big way. Preparation reminds me of my favorite Bible verse, which gives me hope that I will find strength and not be weary. Amen!
Isaiah 40:31 “Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”
