Thanks to all of you for the outpouring of encouragement on my journey to better health. Now that I have started the journey, here’s an update on my path.
As with any trip, you have to pack. My “guide/trainer” gave me a specific grocery list (organic, no additives, whole foods, chicken, turkey, fish, vegetables, fruits) to purchase, then gave me a strict plan to follow (four meals per day, no more than 3 hours apart, weighed, eat before 5:30 p.m.). I can follow instructions. See my problem has always been when I decide to venture off course.
I was miserable the first few days. Headaches from detox of sugar and grains. Every morning I weigh in and report. In 10 days, I’ve lost 10.2 pounds. Remember, not only am I losing weight, I’m getting off prescription medications (down to three from six), while working to boost my immune system and heal inflammation.
I have noticed an improvement in my allergies, digestion, and energy. I report my symptoms daily and my guide/trainer will tweak the meal plan as she deems necessary. I’ve also noticed better sleep, being less fidgety (probably because of sugar detox), and a general sense of well-being.
I am pleased with the progress made so far. Every day and every meal I remind myself not to seek perfection … don’t go after the final goal too quickly … because that’s sure to set me up for failure. Just strive to do the very best I can. I can do anything for one day that would be impossible for a lifetime. My progress will increase one day at a time.
