I had been hearing lots of reports on the new movie, “Noah,” starring Russell Crowe. I had read that the film’s director was an atheist. I also expected some artistic license to be made with the script. I wasn’t prepared for what I saw.
My husband and I walked out of the theater at the conclusion both saying, “I like the first story.” Others commented similarly. When I got home I dug a little deeper into “The Big One” (flood, that is).
Brad Forlow, in his book “Five Evidences for a Global Flood,” states quite clearly: (1) Genesis teaches a global flood; (2) God judged the world through a global flood; (3) all scripture testifies of a global flood; (4) geology reveals the fact of a global flood; and (5) the fossil record requires a global flood. But many, Christians included, dismiss the event as a local event, placing “man’s science” over the authority of the Bible. (This book is clear and well written, and would make a good addition to your library.)
Both the biblical and scientific evidence clearly attest to a global Flood, both critical to a proper understanding of the world we live in and our Christian faith. The body of Christ must stand firm and not compromise our beliefs with evolutionary science resulting in dismissing the Gospel message.
Martin Luther said, “If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however bold I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”
