The following is re-posted from Initiative 180 blog of July 26, 2015, “A Message to Planned Parenthood from a Woman Who Has Been Betrayed.”

Quote on black: The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemiesThere’s no escaping the news.  The Center for Medical Progress releasing not one, but two, videos revealing Planned Parenthood’s practice of fetal organ harvesting from abortion for scientific research.  The videos observe executives discussing how they haggle over the price of organ harvesting, typically $30 to $100 per specimen.  It’s gut-wrenching with each video becoming more damning than before.  From what I hear, there are more videos to come.  That’s not all.  Now the Department of Justice has started its own investigation to see whether The Center for Medical Progress obtained their videos legally.  Is there search for truth here or signs of cover-up?

In the never-ending abortion argument there’s no limit to the number of opinions:  pro-choice, pro-life, political parties, political candidates, bio-ethicists, legal and religious scholars, all clamoring after media attention to make the loudest noise.  But you never hear from those that matter– I’m speaking of the millions of “silent sufferers,” for whom abortion has been a traumatic life-changing experience since its legalization in 1973.  I’m lending my voice on behalf of the post-abortive, who, by anyone’s calculation, are easily considered the largest demographic in our culture.   So here’s our message to Planned Parenthood:  YOU HAVE BETRAYED US!

Betrayal is a horrible feeling; after putting your faith in someone, you wind up being knowingly deceived for power or financial gain.  That’s exactly what’s happened to American women for the last 42 years.  We placed our trust in Planned Parenthood for decades for proper healthcare, but when a woman walked into a clinic, Planned Parenthood didn’t see a woman needing help, they saw dollar signs.  Hopefully, growing suspicion over the years has now reached a level demanding full investigation of the largest abortion provider in the country to be defunded and shut down.  Now perhaps the physical, mental and emotional needs of women who are at their most vulnerable moments will be put first and foremost before taking sides.  In 1973 I wasn’t informed of the medical procedure I would undergo; was never counseled, nor followed-up with.  I walked in the front door, paid for services in cash, and then shown the back door, but not until the abortionist told me, “good news, you no longer have a baby.” Since 1973, American women have been told they can have an abortion, and that it won’t affect them after the termination of the pregnancy. Nothing could be further from the truth.  The abortion affects the mother, emotionally and physically.  Abortion is an unnatural process that interrupts one of the primary functions of the human body. A woman’s body naturally resists the abortion, causing physical and emotional problems.   I’m not alone — there are millions just like me, who regret our abortions, have suffered silently, holding onto a secret that destroys.   But we are finding our voices with each passing day.

In 1963, Planned Parenthood’s ‘Plan Your Children’ pamphlet stated, “An abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun. It is dangerous to your life and health.”  What happened in the span of 10 years when Roe v. Wade was passed legalizing abortion in this country?  Did it suddenly become safe?  Not at all – what changed is it became legal and became big business for profit

If the videos are true, that Planned Parenthood changes how they perform abortions, steering women toward different procedures, to get intact organs or more valuable older organs, then our suspicions will have been validated and the world will know that women’s healthcare was a mere ploy to entice women as “cattle to the slaughter” with manipulation and misleading claims.  The veil of lies is finally being lifted; laws have been broken, human rights denied, and all of us have been deceived.  There’s no way to “spin” this.  Former Obama White House staffer, Michael Wear, stated, “It should bother us as a society that we have use for aborted human organs, but not the baby that provides them.”

Since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, increasing research and studies with each passing year show the harm abortion has on the mother and the residual affects to society.  What many said in 1973 was the “solution” of abortion, is now proving to be a liability.  Abortion does do harm.  If we are truly interested in good healthcare, then any organization that is breaking federal and ethical laws should be defunded and disbanded.  Women of America deserve better, much better than Planned Parenthood.
