Many times I reach a fork in the road with a major decision in front of me – which path do I take? Do I take the path that is well travelled, that I know will get me to my destination eventually? Or do I take the path that could be quicker, though unfamiliar and have potential for trouble?
This describes life pretty well. We are all confronted with decisions in life and which path to take. I have been on a path for a few y ears now, starting a post-abortion ministry in unfamiliar (and often unwanted) territory. And by my very nature, I always have questions.
But God is good and He provides the answers before I ever think of the questions. A few weeks ago, an older woman (in her 70’s) approached me at church. She said, “I need to tell you something. When I was young I had an abortion and I lived with that pain for over 50 years until I went through a recovery Bible study like yours. Keep doing what you’re doing.” I thanked her, hugged her, turned and gave a big thank you to My Father in Heaven.
More answers came this week at the conclusion of two recovery groups. There has been amazing transformation in the recovery participants. Each unique … each with their own stories … they are finding their voices to share the transformation they’ve experienced with others.
Yesterday I went to a church bazaar. I was in a hurry, didn’t expect to find anything (other than food) to purchase, when I happened on the last table by the door. A lovely young woman was there with unique artwork I’d never seen before. In speaking with her, she shared how she came to accept Christ as her Savior … through a post-abortion Bible study.
How do I know I’m on the right path? How do I know I’m following God’s will for my life and not my own? This is my non-theology answer: As long as I do something to build up the Kingdom, and it is not contrary to His Word, and He continues to open the doors, all I have to do is keep walking.
