Chalkboard lettering P.O.P., Power of PrayerAdmit it.  If you’re totally honest, there is at least one person who really gets under your skin, drives you totally insane, you can’t stand to be around, etc., etc.  Well, believe me, I’ve got one for the record books!  I cringe at the very thought of speaking to her.  The mere mention of her name makes my skin crawl.  I’ve secretly prayed asking why God even put her in my life to begin with.  Doesn’t He love me?   Wanting to be totally honest, here, I had been in a spiritual rut for awhile.  Well, this week, a miracle happened.  I prayed for this woman.

My prayer started cautiously, really without a great deal of effort.  But as I kept going, I grew more fervent asking God to help this woman and send those to her who could help her.  The fact that I was praying for her wasn’t the miracle; the miracle is what happened to me — my heart and mind changed.  I lost my anger and fear as my feelings changed to care and compassion.  Then another miracle happened.

I know someone who is a devout believer and a real prayer warrior.  Knowing this, I asked him to pray for me, for a better attitude, and for direction for our ministry, Initiative 180.  I was discouraged after doors of opportunity seemed to be closing.  When he prayed, it was as if the windows of Heaven opened up.  My friend didn’t pray some namby-pamby prayer; he prayed with power.  He prayed with the expectation that God would act.  He prayed and I felt God’s presence — and I’ve felt it ever since.  Within an hour I began receiving calls and emails and introductions to other ministry partners.  That’s P.O.P. (Power of Prayer) for you.

I don’t understand the mystery of prayer, but I know it works.  I’ve seen it in action, I’ve experienced it for myself.  Despite what we don’t understand about the power of prayer, God has picked this vehicle as the conduit of His activity in the lives of His people.  It’s the direct link portal that brings that power from heaven down to earth. P.O.P. (Power of Prayer) really is the fuel that drives everything.

Ephesians 6:18           Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
