It’s great to get away, relax, recreate, visit friends.  No matter the distance, friends are there to provide encouragement, love and support.

Wherever I go, I love sharing life experiences and always end up telling my story.  That starts the ball rolling for someone else to share their story, which triggers a past memory, another story, and so on.  Sharing hopes and aspirations, I told them about my dream to one day write a book.  But what happened at church the next morning caught me off-guard.

Our friends had recently moved to a new town and joined the First Baptist Church.  We were greeted at the door on arrival and handed a church bulletin.  New sermon series:  “My Story … Living the Story You Want to Tell.”  That morning’s sermon  was “I Decided to Start.”  I swung around to my friend, “Did you tell the pastor I was coming?”  She just grinned in her all-knowing way assuring me a Higher Authority had it all under control.

I sat there listening to the sermon.  “The decisions I make today will determine the stories I’ll tell tomorrow … My direction determines my destination … I’ll do today what I can do, to enable me to do tomorrow what I can’t do today.”  There was a tug at my heart.

So I’ve decided to start.
