As you’ll recall, last year I was on The Barry Creamer Show (KCBI Radio). It was a year ago this month … my first venture into the “big league” of talk show radio. I was excited, scared, intrigued; a bundle of emotions rolled into one.
Yesterday, one year later, I taped for the same show. Same season (Sanctity of Life); same reason (Post Abortion Ministry), but this time something new was added … the co-founder of Peace After the Storm, A Lifeline for Healing from Abortion. Karen and I shared our personal journeys after abortion and through post-abortion healing.
The intriguing part of the story is how we connected. You guessed it … on the radio. One year ago this month, Karen heard me on the air and responded when she heard herself in my story. In no time at all, Karen started her own healing journey that I led. Karen says, “I heard someone talking about a deep pain and shame that only I could recognize as the same life I had been living. I was hearing my story and someone else was telling me they knew what that was like. For the first time, I knew someone understood where I was. … I walked into that Bible study as a hopeless Christian-numb with 32 years of self destructive behavior and worthlessness … I walked out of that 9-week Post-Abortive Healing Program found by God’s grace and mercy with a joy that truly does surpass any understanding.”
Within a year, God connected Karen and I through Dr. Creamer’s radio show, she goes through her own recovery program, and now a ministry is born to help those wounded from abortion. Did you know the post-abortive is the single largest demographic in our culture? That’s a lot of men and women that could use some help, hope, and healing. That’s why I’m glad God is at work all the time … on and off the radio.
P.S. The show will air on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. (CST) on KCBI Radio, FM 90.9. Let me know what you think!
